Redis MISCONF: Diagnose the RDB Failure Before Unblocking

If the full error explicitly names failed RDB snapshots and stop-writes-on-bgsave-error, inspect persistence evidence before rebuilding network connections. Do not treat every configuration error sharing the short MISCONF label as the same incident.

redis-cli INFO persistence
redis-cli INFO memory

These are read examples for your own Redis instance using its required authentication and TLS settings. Do not put passwords in command arguments or shared logs. Correlate rdb_last_bgsave_status, any save in progress and server logs at the same time. A last-save timestamp alone does not prove that a newly attempted save succeeded.

Separate destination failures from fork failures

For permission denied, align the container-side persistence path, runtime identity and host mount. For space errors, check free bytes, inodes and read-only remounts. For a fork failure, inspect memory, cgroup limits and contemporaneous logs. Repeating chown for a fork problem or adding RAM for a permission problem misses the failing boundary.

Redis’s MISCONF explanation covers write blocking following persistence failure. Disabling write protection may remove a client error without restoring disk persistence. A service that requires persistence must record that distinction explicitly.

Assess recovery after a new persistence result

After correcting the cause, observe the next save through the administration procedure and align status, completion time and logs. BGSAVE is not a read-only diagnostic; fork and copy-on-write can burden a small host. Do not launch repeated concurrent saves. Distinguish reads, an approved small write and persistent storage verification; test restart recovery separately in staging.
